Useful Apps for Business Owners

Posted On: January 4, 2014

Smartphones and tablets are incredibly popular for many obvious reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is that they provide access to virtually everything you can do on your computer everywhere you go. Almost every great program and application now has a mobile app, and here are a few we use all the time.

For the record, we don’t have any business affiliation with these apps. We’re just making sure you know about them, because we know how useful they can be for everything you do.

Evernote: This is an awesome note-taking app. It immediately syncs notes you create (including checklists/to-do lists) with all your devices, so every time you modify them, they’re immediately updated everywhere. (And they’re password-protected for security.) You can also immediately save clippings from webpages directly to Evernote, a function that comes in very handy.

Dropbox: This wonderful program provides cloud storage for documents, projects, and much more. It’s especially useful for storing files that are too large to easily send through email. When you need to share files with coworkers or others, simply upload it to Dropbox. You can easily provide sharing privileges with others, and they can access the files from their computers, tablets and smartphones.

Google Drive: This app lets you share documents and other files on your computer with others or access them anytime you need from your laptop or phone. You can also access multiple Gmail accounts directly from Drive. It requires just one click to share anything you’re working on to “My Drive,” and only you can access it until you add sharing privileges.

Gmail: This has been available by default ever since Android devices were first created — naturally, since Android is a Google operating system — but recent updates have supercharged its functionality. You can archive mail with one tap, add a label in two taps, or switch between accounts in two taps. If you’re still using an older version of Gmail because you have an older Android device, this is a great reason to upgrade.
