We’ve been saying it a lot lately, but we’ll say it again: Smartphones are taking over the world.
People are accessing the Internet over mobile devices more and more every day. In the first quarter of 2013, smartphones outsold “feature” phones (phones that aren’t, um, smart) for the first time ever.
Meanwhile, personal computer sales have taken a nosedive. The International Data Association reported than in the same quarter, PC shipments fell 14 percent worldwide, the worst yearly decline since IDC first tracked the data in 1994.
Today, fully half of Facebook page visitors access those pages from mobile devices, and that number’s only going to grow quickly from there. Which is why the appearance of Facebook pages has gained substantial importance.
The good news is that you don’t have to do anything yourself to optimize your Facebook business page for iOS or Android. Just make sure your regular Web version is complete and up to date — Facebook will take care of the rest.
Here are some of the changes to the appearance of Facebook business pages on mobile devices:
- Cleaner look: The new layout is greatly simplified, providing visitors an experience more in line with sites optimized specifically for mobile viewing and use.
- Easier interaction: Buttons allowing users to Like the page, check in, call the business, and more are clearly displayed and easy to use.
- Giving the most useful information the best real estate: The new design is intended to ensure visitors don’t need to scroll to discover the most important information. Hours of operation, price ranges, maps, and distance from the user’s location are all easier to access than before.
What does this mean for your business? In theory, it should help people who visit your business page on Facebook interact with your business faster and easier than before.
Of course, the same will be true of your competitors, so be sure you’re using Facebook to engage with leads and customers as much as possible. Your Ring Ring Marketing professional can assist you with ways to optimize your Facebook outreach as necessary.
